Today was a hard day I won’t lie. A decent deal of sitting around- serious indecision on my end as to how to spend my time. Woke up at 940 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Lot more nature here than in Texas, and it’s a little cooler. Decided to go for a run right away- it was only starting to get hot… Lincoln Park was the name of the recreation center right adjacent to the Zoo’s Amphitheater that we were playing at (hehe like the band). Bout a quarter mile stretch of grass, I ran back and down twice as a warmup and then did just a couple of sprints. Breakfast around 11 (the vegetable juicer really does not work all that well BUT I was thrilled to have it), and then a shower (SO MUCH NICER than yesterday’s) with proper faucets and everything like that.
On the theatre the sun sets directly in the band’s face- John yelled before the first song for his sunglasses but nobody heard him, so he ran backstage part of the way through Rock and Roll Girls to ask again for them. Overall we had a great show- heat was getting to people a little bit. I don’t concern myself with petty matters of drama between the crew- but lots of it seems to be popping up all over the place.
All in all I’m really friendly with everyone in the crew… today was “roadie Friday” as it’s known- our last show day before a day off.
Ohh sidenote I did hear that we won’t be doing pyrotechnics at the stint in Canada/Seattle which is too bad, I was hoping my mom could see that part of it.
Talked about wireless bluetooth headphones- for professional in-ears the move is the JH or the Ultimate Ears (UE) brands. I’m using Shure S215s that I bought for $100 after Nathan’s suggestion and they sound great- I want to order a dongle so I can listen to music with them while on tour. That’s what Nate keeps suggesting to me. I also tried out Mike D.’s Beats that he seems to love (he got them for free, valued around $200 or so), they sound a lot better than my current ones but not as good as Bose that others seem to recommend.
Lots of hanging and chatting- I was up pretty late (it’s 12:40 AM and I’ll be up longer I’m sure). Scott, the bus driver, makes these terrific puns… stuff like- “we’ll never run out of math teachers… they always multiply”, and other stuff that’s directly relevant to the situation. He’s super quick, it’s fun. Nate and Nathan have become inseperable- they hang out in the back lounge all night long.
Just heard that the bus that broke down last Thursday morning is STILL on the side of the road somewhere in Florida!!!! And the bus driver is still in there! He has food but man that cannot be pleasant in the slightest- poor guy….
OK that’s enough of the writing for now… everything is going good now that I feel I’ve been a lil more social. Took a break from my composing and everything really, just edited some vlogs that are going up Wednesday. Sitting next to Bob now, just asked about tickets for a friend at our show near Chicago on Tuesday, and wanna ask him more about why this tour is so long! Gooooodnite.
